'20-21' Visual Arts Centre refers to the project starting in the 20th Century (1998) and being completed in the 21st Century (May 2001), hence '20-21'. ’20-21’ the Visual Arts Centre, formally the church of St John the Evangelist was completed in 1891. For 16 years St John's Church remained derelict, in 2000 work began to convert the former church into an arts centre.

20-21 has just celebrated its 10th birthday. During this time there have been many exhibitions, and shown the work of over 500 artists, some of which are based in the Lincolnshire counties. Many of the artists are to be invited back to run activities during the summer months, especially for the residents and children of North Lincolnshire. The environment of 20-21 is fun, creative and family friendly, children of all ages are welcome to participate in the daily activities that are available. These include making your own art work, helping to make sculptures, designing tattoo glass and much more. There are also adult workshops available which run throughout the year, included are jewellery making, plaster casting and mould making, painting and much more. Lots events add to Scunthorpe Telegraph each week and to our Scunthorpe communty section.

20-21 Visual Arts Centre also has five gallery spaces which display work by cutting edge contemporary artists and leading craft design makers. These are shown throughout different times of the year and are shown in the spectacular setting of the former St John’s Church building in the Scunthorpe Town Centre.

Whilst visiting 20-21 or to get away from the hustle and bustle of the town centre why not take up the opportunity to enjoy a hot or cold meal, snacks or refreshments at the relaxed and stylish café. All food is freshly prepared and children are fully catered for.

20-21 also has a retail area which sells a wide range of unique handmade items, such as jewellery, ceramics, greetings cards, glassware, paintings, book and souvenirs. With prices to suit everyone’s pocket there is much to choose from, gift vouchers are available to purchase which make the ideal gift if you are struggling to find the perfect present.

At 20-21 you can also book children’s parties, offering craft activities for children between the ages of 5-10. All parties include a craft activity, treasure hunt in the gallery, food and drinks, party games, prizes and lot and lots of fun.
